Why Choose Composite Decking
For many homeowners, the backyard is ideal for bringing friends and family together. Whether it’s afternoons admiring a gorgeous summer day from the hammock, or grilling dinner with the neighbors, a deck can symbolize a space of unity. Homeowners contemplating installing a deck have many options to choose from. Due to its durability, low-maintenance qualities and alluring appeal, composite decking is a continually popular choice. Here are reasons why many are choosing to add composite decking to their backyard:
Low-maintenance
If you’re constantly having to clean, inspect and upgrade your deck, when do you actually find time to enjoy it? One of the main benefits of choosing composite decking is that you’ll spend minimal time on maintenance. With composite decking, you won’t have to paint, seal or stain as you would with other materials. The color is already prominent, and the material will maintain its appearance for many years to come. Composite decking is renowned for its stability, standing up to any weathering tests it may encounter. As for cleaning, while it’s definitely recommended to wash composite decking down at least every other month, all it takes is a quick shower with a garden hose to make it look as good as new.
Tough and durableWhether your summers are filled with intense heat and rain or your winters are blistering cold, you can always count on composite decking to stand the tests of time and weather. The combination of wood and plastic fiber allows for a strong material that won’t see its color fade or wear down after constant sun exposure or frigid temperatures. Made to thrive during constant use in all seasons, composite decking is also stain-resistant.
Style selection
While sturdiness and longevity are certainly important aspects of a deck, you also want something that’s visually appealing. Composite decking has dozens of styles, colors and patterns that can add some personality to your outdoor living space. Whether you’re looking for a surface that emphasizes an intricate, textured pattern or something that emulates the look of real wood, composite decking allows homeowners to choose from a variety of styles. Reversible options are available to allow for even more choice.
Family-friendly
Due to it’s safe, smooth surface, composite decking is a great choice for families. With composite decking, you’ll never have to worry about any rogue splinters, so be ready to spend some quality barefoot time outside. Also, many composite decking styles are designed with a more rigidly textured surface, which improves slip resistance and reduces unforeseen tumbles.
Value
“Quality material and easy installation only add to its value.”
Whether you’re worried about budget concerns or you’re hesitant about what the investment could mean to your resale value, composite decking can relieve your stress on both of these matters. Composite decking is a cost-effective product and the quality material will keep your deck lasting long and looking great. Because of its easy-to-use hidden clip system for installation, you won’t have to spend wasted time building the deck of your dreams.
Environmental sustainability
It always helps with peace of mind when you can walk out on your backyard deck and know that you’ve made an environmentally sound decision. Once you’ve purchased your composite decking, you can pat yourself on the back, as the surface is comprised of recyclable materials. This helps homeowners make a decking decision that’s as responsible as it is practical.

Hi Tom,
Thank you for your inquiry!
The only difference between grooved and ungrooved boards are the way they are installed. The boards are identical except that grooved boards have indentations on the sides for clips to be inserted whereas ungrooved boards are like a solid pieces of lumber that need to be adhered down with nails or screws. Ungrooved boards are generally used on stairs or the outer perimeter of the deck so as you don’t see any grooves when the project is complete.
Please let us know if you have any other questions!
