Hi Bene

Depending on the type of hardwood floor, the installation method, and the soundproofing material – yes, this can be done. For nail-down hardwood floors, however, it is best for the soundproofing material to go underneath the subfloor. We would generally not recommend this for an existing floor as the subfloor may cause height and expansion issues. Do you have a hardwood flooring in mind so that we can further advise you?

Can I put a soundproof material over the existing hardwood floor on the unit above then put a new hardwood floor over it. Will that block the noise?

I did not that vinyl floors had different thickness types. My brother told me that he would like to remodel his house so he can sell it and buy a bigger one. I will recommend him to check vinyl floors since they seem to be a great option.

Thanks for the tip about brushing off the sawdust carefully from the newly-installed wood staircase to prevent the wood from darkening. My husband wants to replace our staircase with laminated wood as well as our porch to make it look more appealing. I support my husband with this decision, so we will contact a wood baluster installation service early in the morning to inquire about the prices and types of wood that they have as supplies.

I totally agree with you when you said that installing wood flooring in a home provides a warm and natural look to the room. My friend would like to remodel his house since he thinks it is outdated. I will recommend her to check hardwood floors since they give a nice look to any room that has them installed.

(1)A leak in the wall of a galley kitchen several months ago occurred. After several months floors resumed their previous flat shape with the exception of 2 boards. (2 1/2″x 21/2″ wide x 24″) which had buckled . If we apply pressure (stand on them) they recede to the former flat, state. There was no adhesive used when they were installed. There is no damage to existing boards, just buckling at 2/12″ seams.
Questions: Are there any nails that can go into concrete?
Is it possible to replace just the 2 boards?
I believe it is a pretreated floor, laminate? . Only have to vacuum crumbs and dust. It does not get messed up as there are no children or pets.

(2) Replace carpet with wood floor in bedroom 11’x18′. Do you move furniture to facilitate this?

Your reply to John on March 6 of 2017. You said that Houston was too dry to put bamboo flooring down. Just curious do you even have a clue where Houston Texas is? It’s one of the most Humid places in the United States. And FYI it’s called the air conditioning capital.
