Hi Lance,

Thanks for reaching out to us! There are four different grades of wood, which are Utility, Builders, Standard and Premiere. There are different characteristics to expect with each type of grade of wood, so it depends on what type of look you are trying to achieve. Please let us know if you have any other questions!

Any natural product can be installed in the kitchen. It is worth noting that you should be diligent in wiping up any small spills etc. Repeated exposure to moisture in one area will lead to product cupping / warping etc.

Some common choices include solid hardwood, enginerered, bamboo, and laminate. In terms of grade for hardwood, it really varies depending on how you want it to look (select and better with uniform look, #1 common with a lot of color variation, rustic with knots and worm holes and cracks, etc.).

So to answer your question, it really depends on what you want that meets your budget and preference.

They recently ripped out the carpeting and as hoped, discovered beautiful hard wood flooring underneath. They would love to restore it properly, but do not know what species of wood it is. Any help in identification would be much appreciated. I do have pics. available. Thank you, Erin.
