I am in a bit of a jam here and wondering if you can help. My floating engineered hardwood was installed in two stages, as it butted up to a solarium wall.

Last summer I installed the wood up at the solarium floor track and clean cut the ends of the boards, removing the lip. I have now removed the solarium wall and
put a transition threshold in side ways, and then continued the floors in the same direction as
stage one perpendicular to threshold).

The seam between the clean cut ends and the threshold have nothing to keep them together and are lifting and squeaking. I have tried using concrete screws but they are not holding too well and I don’t want to have to use them everywhere. Should I somehow try gluing this seam down?

Bob,

Thanks for getting in touch. In this instance I would recommend the use of a Reducer to transition down to the lower concrete surface.

This will complete the install and give the project a ‘clean’ look.

Get in touch if you have any further questions.

I have an engineered hardwood floor installed over concrete in a basement. I need to transition to several utility rooms which will remain with a bare concrete floor. My question is: How do I hold down the transition moldings at the doorways or do I have to use T-moldings to allow for expansion?
